The trade grew out of one practical problem: nobody wants to hand a stranger their phone in front of the thing they flew to see. A shoot buys an hour with somebody who already knows which wall the light falls on at half past seven and which lane is empty at six in the morning. A side-by-side treatment room is the one romantic booking that works in bad weather, which is why Marrakech, Bali and Chiang Mai sell so many of them.
